Lilane Blaser

LILIANE BLASER, born in 1953, in Caracas, Venezuela, studied cinema at the “Conservatoire Libre de Cinéma Francais” in 1982 and 1983, and holds a BA in Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology, as well as a MA in Planification. She is currently working on a PhD in Social Sciences. Ms Blazer is also the founder and director of and teacher at the Instituto de Formación Cinematográfica in Caracas. A writer on art and politics, she has also served on the juries of many film festivals.


Menotti Bucco

Menotti Bucco is a former medical student, producer and director with MB films, and professional photojournalist for such agencies as Reuters and Sygma, with field experience in many hotspots around the world, and highlyacclaimed exhibits of his works. In the fields of consulting, management
and research, he has worked with such well-known names as Amnesty International, the Green Movement, and the Red Cross, as well as with Italian television, for whom he produced several distinguished reports.

SilVio Da-Rin
Born in 1949 in Rio de Janeiro, Silvio Da-Rin’s career as a documentary filmmaker began in 1980, after which he directed a number of films presented at festivals worldwide. At present, he’s putting the finishing touches to the documentary “Hércules 56”, on the kidnapping in the 60s of American Ambassador Charles Elbrick in Rio de Janeiro and the 15 political prisoners exchanged for his freedom. Da-Rin also teaches and lectures at several institutions and film schools.

Fernando Dominguez
Fernando Buen Abad Dominguez, 50, has an impressive background in Image, Communication and Culture, as well as film and television production, having written and directed 19 audio-visual and cinematographic works in Mexico, Houston, New York and Argentina. He has also been part of the jury at many international film and documentary festivals. An acclaimed professor, he
has taught Semiotics, Cinema, Audio-visual Production, Journalism, Radio, Linguistics, and Integral Professional Communication.

Gunter Hanfgarn
 Gunter Hanfgarn is a co-founder of the company, HANFGARN & UFER Film and TV Produktion in Berlin. He graduated from EWH Landau and Technische Universität of Berlin, and worked with Deutsche Welle as an
assistant editor, after which he was a writer and freelancer for German and international TV stations, producing and directing reports, features and documentary films. Since 1997, he has been an instructor in media design for the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce. His repertoire of films, which have been shown at film festivals around the globe.

Rod Hay
 An award - winning writer-producer-director from Australia, Rod has been creating unique images and stories for over two decades, with features, TV series, documentaries, commercials and music clips, whether they be action, drama, sport, or animation. A freelance photo journalist and correspondent, author of four books, and winner of several global awards for his programmes which have been screened in over 100 countries, he has been running his parent company, Moving Targets, for over 25 years.

Robert Richter
Robert’s award-winning documentaries have been shown on all US networks, and major European and other international television outlets. Three of his films have won DuPont Columbia Broadcast Journalism awards, and two others were Academy Award nominees for best documentary short. Richter is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Writers Guild, National Television Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Societies of Professional and Environmental Journalists; and has been a jury member at a number of U.S. and foreign film festivals.

Ovidio Salazar
 A native of California and resident of the UK, Ovidio Salazar has been a filmmaker for over 20 years. After studying Theatre and Performance Art in LA and New York, his interest in Sufism took him to Europe and the Middle East, and Arabic and Islamic Studies in London and Cairo. As series producer for the BBC’s “Faces of Islam”, he filmed the pilgrimage to Mecca on several occasions, directing the award-winning “Hajj, Journey of a Lifetime.”

José Sánchez
 José started his career in 1979 when he joined the 'Institute of Studies on Everyday Life' at the University of Granada's School of Law, working on sociological aspects of the media and publicity until December 1984, when he founded Atico Siete S.A., where he has worked as director and scriptwriter for 18 years. Among his works are the film Morente sueña la Alhambra (Alhambra Daydreams), best flamenco film of 2005, and winner of the Critics’ Prize; the documentary Bola de Nieve, winner of 4 international awards; and Al otro lado de la memoria (From the other side of memory) an acclaimed documentary about the Spanish protectorate in Morocco.

Kamran Shirdel
KAMRAN SHIRDEL, 65, is a graduate of Teheran and Rome where he studied design and film direction. His renowned productions, often on sensitive subjects, have been acclaimed by critics, but banned by the authorities. With films such as "The Night It Rained" and "Women's Prison", Shirdel has deservedly earned the reputation of a spokesman for the underprivileged, and a tireless fighter against corruption and abuse of power.

 Bob Visser
A native of Holland, Visser started out as a successful DJ on Dutch radio, and then went on to become involved in film and TV production. In 1991, he set up his own production company (NeON), which proved invaluable to technicians and television producers. He has been active in children's television, adapting, creating, and producing several innovative series in this field.

Majida Wassif
Majida Wassif is the chairman of the cinema department with the Arab World Institute in Paris, and the manager of the Arab Cinema festival. She also supervised the composition of the book, A Hundred Years of Egyptian Cinema, receiving an award in Paris for the best cinema book of 1996, and a medal from the Arts and Literature Institute in 2002.

Lei Ying
 Lei Ying graduated in world history from Beijing University, after which she joined Chinese television (CCTV) as a director, in charge of producing a wide variety of programs and documentaries on the arts, and current affairs. Because of her wide international experience, she has consistently been asked to head and direct several areas and productions, dealing with
international arts, music, and culture.

Hala Zureikat
Hala is the asst. director for training and development and director of int’l relations for Jordan Radio and Television, where she’s also been responsible for English and French programming. After graduating from high school, and for the next 30 years, she continued her education at
universities in France and the US in the fields of journalism, administration, communications, and leadership, while also holding several high-ranking career positions in the interim. She has also been the guiding force behind the production of a varied portfolio of acclaimed programs for children, youth, and women.
